Two cold fronts have passed and took the warm temperatures with them. With the cooler air temperatures is also cooler water temps. The water temperature along the beaches is in the upper 70's. Expect that to drop more with each passing cold front. The Mullet Festival was a great time! As always the Mullet Festival had a great turnout to make it a great time! Country singers melted hearts and gained new fans! With the good amount of food, beer and music was the cool weather. The Mullet Festival takes place in October just in time for the first cold fronts. The Pensacola Arts Festival is almost here! The festival many locals look forward to attending is just two weeks away! The Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival will take place from November 6th till the 8th at Seville Square in downtown Pensacola. The festival has many great displays of art for buyers and browsers. Its a great event for everyone! Thomas Doughnuts are the best! Located along Front Beach Road in Panama City Beach is Thomas Doughnuts. The local eatery is known for possibly the best doughnut. Other breakfast items are served as well. The location has been around for a long time and still keeps the old time feel by the beach. Halloween on the Emerald Coast! Halloween is fun and exciting for both adults and kids. Many local bars have costume parties and contests. Expect places like Club Aqua and Nightown to be packed! Places like the Destin commons and other shopping malls will offer a trick-or-treat for kids. Some neighborhoods have better opportunities for trick-or-treaters than others. Southwest Airlines is coming to Panama City! The area airports were all competing for Southwest Airlines as their low fare carrier. The decision has been made for Southwest Airlines to fly out of Panama City's new international airport. The new airport will open in May of 2010 just in time for summer! For two weeks the beaches, restaurants and roads will seem like summer again. Restaurants like Pompano Joe's have been on a wait every evening. Many schools still have a fall break. Also, October is the month many homeowners have to attend homeowner's association meetings. Art is back in Destin! The 14th Annual Destin Festival of the Arts will take place Saturday October the 24th at the Henderson Beach State Park. From 9 a.m. till 5 p.m. festival goers will be able to see art displays by 100 artists. The artists in the festival will be competing for $8,200 in cash rewards! The Mullet is back! The Boggy Bayou Mullet Festival is back for it's 33rd year! The festival takes place in Niceville. The festival will have arts and crafts, food vendors and lots of mullet. Along with the mullet is some great country music. Friday night Chuck Wicks will be live in concert followed by Blake Shelton on Saturday night and Billy Ray Cyrus Sunday afternoon. The festival always brings in a crowd! The sun is setting on the gulf once again! The beautiful sunsets of the Emerald Coast can now be observed at the beach. There are many great viewing points for watching the sunset. Restaurants like Bud and Alley's, Pompano Joe's, Harry T's and Angler's are great options for the site. The sun is now setting around 6:30. It is recommended to arrive an hour early to get a good viewing point. Walton County residents may get beach access. The beaches of South Walton County allow vehicles to drive on the beach that have beach permits. Only property owners or a person holding controlling interest in a business can optain beach permits. Family members of property owners are also elligible. Residents may have access soon. Residents would be required to register for voting in order to get a beach permit. Helen Back heads to Navarre! Helen Back has become known for a great place to hang out on a local and national scale. The popular bar is spreading its roots to Navarre. The new location will be on the water where the Beach World retail store was located. The Helen Back location west of Hurlburt Field Air Force Base will close.
